From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishMann, ThomasThomas MannMann, Thomas /mæn/ 🔊 🔊 (1875–1955) a German writer whose books include Death in Venice, which was later made into a successful film, The Magic Mountain, and Doctor Faustus. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929.
