From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishWorld Series, thethe World SeriesˌWorld ˈSeries, the  a set of up to seven baseball games played every year in the US or Canada between two professional teams, the winner of the American League and the winner of the National League. The winner of the World Series is considered to be the best team in the Major Leagues.
